So I've thought about it over the weekend, and I've decided not to close my account. I mean, I can't upload fucking anything, but I'm going to just use this account for what I originally planned to use it for when I first signed up: just having access to a favourites list with which to archive videos. If they ever decide to let the non-elite upload content again, then I will. But, until and unless that day arrives... not really much I can do... My hands are tied... and not in a good way. :T
