I hate my hometown. Some people say they are from a one horse town? Mine is a half ass village. I mean, technically it's a city, with a population of over 13 thousand. It had been a great day. Warm, dry and the traffic had been light. I had been riding for some seven hours now, but wasn't yet tired. The sun had just started to draw the evening curtains, and there was a faint hint of rain on the cooling twilight air. I was cruising along a quiet back road in Sussex on my BMW K100. During the early nineties, when I was starting out as a HGV driver, I was fortunate enough to land a job with a freight company that took me all over Europe, though mainly from the UK to Spain and Italy. These journeys were usually weekly round trips, transiting France into whichever particular country my export loads were destined for, and then re-loading with backhauls for Britain.
