You Have To Do To Get Into The Adult Enter
What Do You Have To Do To Get Into The Adult Entertainment Industry?
Ever wondered how to get into the world of porn? Of course you have, you mucky pup. When that alarm goes off at 6.30am on a Monday, and you've thought 'is there another way?'.
Well, LADbible spoke to adult entertainment star and producer Demetri XXX and, let me tell you, it's probably not as much fun as you'd think. Sorry.
Demetri has been working in the industry since 2001, after leaving behind a successful career as a business analyst in the city. He's starred in hundreds of movies in that time and, as well as acting, he now directs and produces films for Playboy and TVX plus he has won awards for his work.
Telling us how he got into porn, he says: "I was modelling for a while, but that wasn't bringing in as much cash as I was used to, so when my agent called and told me I could get more work if I was happy to get naked, I thought I'd give it a go.
"Before you get offered any 'proper' roles, men are sent along for a casting. The audition process for men is different from women, of course. For me, I was sent to a set, there was no camera or crew - just one woman - she had a webcam set up and there were people logged in, paying to watch.
"They were sending in requests asking us to do things - telling us what positions to do, where to put what, etc.
"The main purpose of that process is to see if a man can get wood on demand. Loads of guys think they can, but when they're actually there they crumble. It's pretty daunting and it's definitely not for everyone."
Weirdly, despite that sounding like the most nerve-wracking and terrifying experience anyone could ever take part in, Demetri says: "It was quite easy. The woman was attractive, it was new and exciting. I enjoyed it.
"It was much more chilled than making a film. It's a good way to see if you're a fit for the industry and the industry is a good fit for you."
However, if you're now thinking, 'cool, sign me up', Demetri offers a sobering word of warning about joining the industry.
"People think I have the best job in the world," he says. "And I'd say five percent of the time, I do. But it's also a lot of hard work. It's not like having sex with your girlfriend or whatever...everything is done to make the finished product look good.
"Sometimes there can be 20 or 30 people hanging around on set while you're trying to have sex; it's getting stopped and started; the positions you do are designed to look good on camera but aren't necessarily what you'd like to do at home. There's all these things.
"Obviously when it's good, it's great. You turn up, the woman is stunning and you get along, the director is your mate, there's a really good vibe, and, yeah, then it's great. But that's not the majority of the time, by any means."
So, are you going to hand in your notice or not, guys?
