Just my take

If you pay attention you can tell I am a bit of a fan of anime/hentai. It have enjoyed the genre since before I was old enough to legally enjoy it. LOL One thing that has become very prominent in the sexual side of the genre that I just don't get it tentacles. I don't understand why they are so popular. I tend to dislike this particular kink, and yet it grows in popularity daily I would say. Personally, I'd much rather see two or more people going at it than tentacles. I get that for the animation sake it is far easier to do the tentacles than drawing people, but I am one that is willing to wait if needed for quality work rather than deal with something done for the sake of ease.

I take for example another genre that is growing in popularity, trans porn. You can't find a lot of quality material in this genre that is animated, but typically the stuff you do find is well done. I recently came across a newer animated series of the genre originally called, "All My Mother's Love" that was forced to be slightly edited and renamed "All My Roommates Love." The person responsible for it does a remarkable job on it solo. The episodes are not terribly long, between 4-8 minutes, but it is high quality work, especially for a single animator. I am more than willing to wait the month to six weeks between episodes because of the quality. Am I alone in this mindset? What about the tentacle stuff?

to andyt29 : I agree that the Japanese censorship laws is what created the tentacle phenomenon, but it doesn't explain its popularity. Typically, you still can't show the female genitals in Japanese material. The exception to that is if the material is not originally meant for Japanese consumption, in which case they don't pixilate everything. But despite that, I don't get the sexual aspect of the tentacles. I get what they are supposed to suggest, but just nothing sexy or erotic about it to me. I suppose it might fall into the same sort of thing as the furry stuff, though at least that has some sexual merit I suppose.

i don't entirely get the tentacle either, which is kind of funny because of all the other animated/cartoon things out there that are so very enjoyable. I believe the tentacle was born from Japanese censorship laws. While you can't show genital to genital contact, you can show genital to anything else pretty much (i think)
