Summer Dressing can be a challenge
This being my first summer really to seriously dress has been a challenge. In the past if I dress I didn't go out. Here are some things that have been a challenge:
1. Sun Tan Lines - I'm an outdoors person so I get a fairly good tan in the summers. Back early summer/late spring I got dressed to go the grocery store. I had just bought a new very casual skirt and blouse that I was going to wear flip flops with. I get all dressed and look down at my feet and saw how white they were compared to my legs. Also learned have to watch out for tan lines around the neck and shirt sleeves. I have had to start going to the tanning beds.
2. My feet - On top of the sun tan line I get real paranoid wearing flip flops and sandals. for one I think my feet are ugly. To me my feet just look bigger than compared to wearing some pumps. Then the whole issue of grooming your feet. I had to do some research on this one. I learned that I must file the dead skin off the bottoms of my feet on a regular basis to keep the from looking like they belong to a construction workers feet. To help my feet look better I will paint my toenails and have even bought a toe ring.
3. Clothes - Summer clothes are just made lighter and do not cover as much. When you are a CD creating an illusion both of those go against you. With the lighter weight clothes its harder for me to things. For example on windy days a light weight skirt, if you are walking into the wind it sort of becomes form fitting against your front and that makes it harder to hide the junk. The sleeves seem to be shorter and the shirts/blouses usually do have a collar. Then I have to start worrying about how my arms and neck look. In the winter a scarf or collar makes it a lot easier. Also the lighter weight blouses make me really work on hiding my fake breasts. You can just see the seams and creases better than in heavier weight blouse or sweater.
4. Makeup - A suntan I have to change some of my foundation to keep up with the color of my skin. Also with more direct sun light I have to be more perfect with the makeup. Seems like little flaws stand out more.
5. Daylight hours - In other parts of the year I would go out at 6 and it would either be getting dark or already dark. Now it doesn't get dark till 9. I just have to be on top of my game.
Although these items have caused my a few problems and a lot of worry I have still had a great summer. When it is done right walking around in a light weight skirt and blouse with some cute open toe shoe/flip flops or sandals is a great feeling.
