It has maintained this status without being overtly crude and vulgar. It has not needed “fuck my cunt” written on the page even once – let alone every other line – to maintain its popularity. Instead of anonymously cowering like cockroach behind your computer screen, why don’t you try creating a profile, owning this comment and writing a story? We’ll then see how you fare. | 2016-02-29 17:53:38 | Expect the Unexpected: Pitching a Tent | (2/5) Now, I don’t say this next part to be boastful or arrogant; there are plenty of supremely talented writers on here and the last thing I want to do is impugn their work (Write on, fellow authors!). I’m honoured to be counted among them and esteemed so highly. I actually can’t explain how humbled and astonished I am that my story here (and the other I’ve posted) is so popular and widely read. Again, thank you, readers. However, the facts are that at the time of this post, this story has 132711 reads, with a 95.1% rating after 734 votes (ie. 698 positives). If we were to extrapolate the information from votes to number of reads, that means that of all readers, 126208 (give or take a few) have enjoyed it – and those that didn’t probably turned up their nose because of its length. Fair enough. |

I do want to address that anonymous troll – excuse me, reader – back there the other day, so I hope everyone will indulge me in a rant. Haters gonna hate, eh? I actually got quite a laugh reading it; it made my evening! I realize that they’ll likely NEVER see this rebuttal, but it’s just for good measure. I’m actually one of those grammar cops (as mentioned in another comment) myself and although I did proofread my own work, there’s bound to be a few errors that slip through the sifting process; I know what I’m wanting to convey, and, therefore, my eyes skip over mistakes easily. I know where a few are (having reread it since posting), and I could go back and correct them, but the story’s doing well enough that I’m not concerned. |
