2009-03-20 16:44:07 | Warming Up | I hesitate to comment on comments, but I have never thought of myself as Ivy League -- I admit to being fairly formal in writing. I did go to college, but to the only one I could walk to and only for night courses. |
2009-04-04 21:24:22 | Janina | Well if another of yours here is after Oscar Wilde as you say (though I thought immediately of Clark Ashton Smith, whom nobody's ever heard of, alas...) this is like the ironic things Robert W. Service was doing at the end of his life. Liked it. Otzchiim |
2009-11-12 16:07:04 | The Man Who Has a Spare | Yes, Baltimore is a predominantly African-American city. I was born and raised there. To the west of the Johns Hopkins campus there is a neighborhood called Hampden where the inhabiants are mostly people whose ancestors have lived there for over a century, but where many students live. That is where the story is set. North of Hampden is a more expensive area called Roland Park, essentially all-white. East of JHU is Charles Village, where the chief crime is drunken driving. Oh, and downtown is safe at most hours. David Simon lives in an alternate universe, or at least other parts of town. Otzchiim |
